title. The Arrivals Series

date. 2025

digital print series

International arrivals at Helsinki, Honolulu and Adelaide airports over a period of 12 months. Each dot is an aircraft. The lines show the colours of the land and oceans passed over during the flight.

Each 30 degrees is a month of data. The length of the lines is relative to the distance travelled by the flight, with each city at the centre of the wheel.

The longest flights into Helsinki come from Tokyo and Seoul, which because of the war in Ukraine fly up past Alaska and over the north pole to get to their destination.

As the work only shows international arrivals, all the flights into Honolulu only fly over oceans, mostly coming from Japan, Australia (east coast) and Korea.
